This program is open to students in the College of Liberal Arts.


  • Minimum 2.8 GPA
  • Not actively on academic probation
  • Good disciplinary standing
  • Must have completed two years of study at Cal Poly before beginning coursework at Munich.

The Cal Poly application will ask you to submit the following supplemental materials:

  • Personal Statement
  • Official Transcript
  • Copy of your Passport

At Munich, students are able to study subjects within the College of Engineering and College of Business. You will earn transfer credit on this program.

Students are highly encouraged to get their Major, Minor and GE courses pre-approved prior to applying to the Exchange program.

  • Major Courses: Provide course descriptions to your Academic Advising Center/Faculty Contact to determine course equivalencies and how credits will transfer back. Students are highly encouraged to consult an Academic/Faculty Advisor about completing any necessary course approval paperwork prior to studying abroad. Students are highly encouraged to complete a Substitution for Major form with the Engineering Advising Center located in Building 40, Room 111.

  • Minor Courses: Consult the Minor Department Advisor about course pre-approvals.

  • GE Courses: Pick up the GE Course Substitution for Study Abroad form at the International Center (Bldg 52, Rm E-32). Attach course descriptions of the GE courses you wish to have approved. Allow four to six weeks to hear back about your substitution approvals. You will hear back about your GE substitutions via an email from
